QUESTIONS

Finally some clear answers to your questions...
- Why did Genghis Khan decide to invade China...?
- What did Francis of Assisi tell the wolf of Gubio...? or Brother Leon?
- What did the Police tell me in May 1968 in Nancy? in December 1970 in Starbeck? in April 1976 in Virginia Beach...?
- How should you bargain in Morocco...?
- How did I help "Golden Locks" to meet her destiny...?

COMMENTARIES

October 2018 - Violet (USA)

I felt like I was transported to different parts and eras of the world, from Algeria to France to Montreal to exotic Casablanca. Rolling seamlessly between time periods and locations, what really holds this introspective story together is the humanity, the journey of one person throughout life, family, experience, thoughts - all intertwined with kindhearted humor and a deeper philosophy of life. Wonderfully enjoyable. Looking forward to a sequel! I read the original in French.

I red your book during ny stay at the Hospital. I could not stop reading! Bravo!

January 2016 - Jean-Paul (Paris)
“Don't write about your life !” they tell the new writers. A good thing for us readers that you did not listen to that advice...
By the way I am reading you more as a story teller rather than a writer. A story teller who slowly becomes the centre of his write-up and who gets finally, with quite some generosity, to the essential of his reasons for living.
But the word reason is probably not the best chosen, and that's what touched me.
As we go through your Legend f the wolf, we get to meet a man... whole, big, telling us "that's the way I am, and I am not ashamed of it".
It takes some guts to expose one self like that to the look and judgement of unknown people but it is the bet of your book, and you succeeded with as much brio as sincerity. It's becoming too rare: I loved that sharing.
I hope I can meet you one day and exchange more directly, on this side of the Atlantic or on the other side.

A nice epic well told shared with us by an author whose generosity and justice strongly color his book.

I just finished the Travel of the Wolf to the West while I was walking though the Alps mountain in Provence. A nice pleasant write-up, of a person very high in colors (...).
You really have a fluid and easy way to write. As for the content... waouhh !
The things that happened at the school of Engineers in Nancy have amused me, with a bit of nostalgy.
I really liked the life of the wolf, whom I knew, and the life of  Gengis Khan whom I discovered. As for Saint Françis of Assisi (...)

August 2015 - Chérif  (Montreal)
I had just finished reading a trilogy of Ken Follett (around 3300 pages) when right after I read your book, smaller, but what a pleasure!
You are perfuming us with serious things but with simple words, sometimes funny, but on the money and challenging us!
After the warrior past of your ancestors, you unveil to us someone filled with peace, care, justice and simply humble. But your story goes beyond all that, it is full of mysticism and inspired by the simple life of Francis of Assisi. At times I could feel a secret communion with this saint... thanks to the wolf. That's my opinion and I'll stand by it. Your book reflects peace, charity and non-violence.
Your thoughts about humanity are full of good common sense, simple but to the point. Against the selfishness which has become a rule of life, you oppose a philosophy of simply sharing. When you talk about hunger, or work, or when you raise the question of the utility of the stock markets, or more simply when you tie the company taxes to the  number of workers it employs, that is for sure christian charity.
I could say a lot more about your book. At any rate, you were right to write it!

A few logs in the middle of the tent, or some dried horse dung, a crackling fire lighting up the interior, while the smoke was escaping towards the sky through the central hole, a few drops of airag, and life was starting all over again. The mind was finally able to rest, and Temujin was going to sleep with a smile on his face, and revenge plans which he would keep for later, for when he would be …

Genghis took a bit of time to think.
« And… the Princess… how is she… ? »
Subutaï had a feeling that he should never have mentioned the Princess to a Genghis Khan. She might become the reason for him to miss a battle, and an easy one to win.
...
« Come closer, brother wolf… » said Brother Francis gently. And he waved to it to get closer.
The wolf looked at Francis, at his eyes, without getting closer.
It saw that there was no fear, nor anger in Francis' eyes.
What can he want from me the wolf asked itself? Usually men were scared of it, or were mad at it...
...
Brother Leon was just looking for a simple life, and being happy. The return of a Messiah at the end of times, or the return of Jesus, all that looked too complicated to him...
He was just looking for happiness in this life, that's all, starting by the beginning, ie today.

Only Lang Mou was authorised to tell his eldest son where and how Genghis had been buried, a secret still sleeping somewhere between Lake Baïkal, the Great Wall of China at...

The Emperor and the King were both Christians, and had called upon the same God before the battle for giving them the victory. Without having realised that God stays deaf to the calls made to him with weapons in your hands, and that his only priority...

« Your olives are pretty good too Manuel, even if sometimes they are a bit dry… »
« I can't help it if in your country we did not get any rain over the last two months

« Are you an asshole or what Abdul… Here we get more rain than in y our country! Wait for this summer, I am going to beat the hell out of you…»
Manuel smiled...

The benefits and the softness brought up by Peace finally caught up with the soldier. Too late of course for the soldiers or the civilians killed by his soldiers.

The United States should also confirm, in the same revision of their Constitution, that the pink machine guns are reserved for the little girls, but only the ones that are at least two years old... Sleep tight everyone...

After the meal, he would take us outside and show us the last baby rabbit, a few months old, so cute
"So...  you like this one..."
"Oh yes Pépère…"
"Alright then, I will keep it... to eat it with you next time you come and visit me…"
And in front of our horrified looks, he would burst out laughing!

"Hola Manu, the young man in front of the bougainviller, he has his eyes glued on the tall brunette over there, on the right of the group of four girls. Who is this tall brunette...?"
"Never mind Alberto, oualou for you, you are too old for her! Come on, keep sipping your caoua..."

May 1968... All of France is in the street. The Latin Quarter in Paris is on fire.

In the train on the way back to Montréal, the conductor will ask us to calm down, because of the beer cans in the paper bags, or the rugby songs, mind you very well known songs but apparently less known by the mothers and their children in our railcar...?

Anyway, there was probably more intelligence from the heart and more peace in the eyes and the heart of seven servants that in the eyes and the heart of forty knights.
